Question

Liza - Okay, I'm clueless as to how to add myself to the "participants" in the sidebar...? OH and also, are we going to follow any kind of specific structure when posting our reviews? Like, to make sure we include our names, the book title and author, and any other relevant information (perhaps year published, how many pages, etc.)?

Answer

Cynthia (answering Liza) Good questions!

1. Click on Sidebar (on the sidebar itself) then click Edit Page. It will give a "warning" that the sidebar shows up on every page. Just click Edit Page, add your name, and link (much like in Vox) to your blog, if you choose.

2. I'll add this to the rules too...when writing a review, include your name, book title, and author. It would be helpful if you said #1 or #2 or whatever just for tallying purposes. Other stuff is up to you (year, pages, ISBN, etc.).

Question

Kate: Spoilers?

Should we post a note/rule/reminder about including spoilers in reviews? I imagine some of us may be reading, oh, say HP7 this summer. :)

Answer

Cynthia (answering Kate): Yes. I'll go ahead and put that in the rules.

Micaela: This is more of helpful hint/request. When you log into the wiki to make changes (add your reviews, etc) you have the option of inputting your name and email address. If you input your name then it will show who made changes when you view the history.

Micaela: I am adding a new page for my review formatting&organizing idea instead of mucking up the real Reviews page. It is here if you are interested in giving input or fleshing out the idea and best solution to it.

Question

Sara: I have a question (actually several) I noted on the Review Page that Katie has her name bolded and you can click on it and it takes you to another page with her review...how do you do that???

Answer

Micaela: If you are able to use the newish editor there is a button with a earth/globe symbol and the word "Link" next to it-this will add a hyperlink to an outside URL or another wiki page or email. Highlight the text you want to be linked and follow the pop-up menubox's prompts. You can also make the text bold with the B button and both of these formats can be applied to the same chunk of text.

LizW adding to that: There's also a "New Page" box toward the bottom of the Wiki; all I had to do was click on that to get my very own review page, and link to it as usual.

Question

Sara: are we allowed to comment to the person making the review...????

Answer

LizW: I don't know about *allowed*, but it's certainly possible, and very easy. I just clicked on the "Comments" box at the top of Micaela's Reviews Ideas page, input a test comment there, and now if you go to that page you'll see a (1) next to the word "Comments" in the box

Question:

Rita: I've noticed that several people are using anchors or some sort within their reviews page to create a list of titles at the top which then link to the subsequent reviews down below. How exactly are you doing this? Is this where Micaela's TOC information comes in?

Answer:

Micaela: Short answer: yes.  Long answer: The only way I've found to create anchors within a wiki page is by using the ToC function/plugin.  Would you like a step-by-step how-to for the ToC?

Answer: Well, I would appreciate it, and perhaps someone else is as much of a wiki-neophyte as I am, and would find it useful as well. If oyu have the time and inclination, of course.

Micaela: I've put the step-by-step instructions for the ToC at the bottom of the Reviews Idea page.  Let me know if they need illumination.

Question:

Amy K: I definitely being careful not to post any spoilers, but I'm wondering if we might want to set up seperate "spoiled" pages for books a lot of us will read (Harry Potter, maybe the newest Stephanie Plum and Thursday Next, if many of us are reading those), so that those of us who have read it can discuss in detail? I am going to be afraid to say anything about Harry Potter on my main reviews page except that I read it!

Answer:

Micaela: Well, this method is crude but it would work.  I found this by doing a quick 'n dirty search on the PB wiki forum for "spoiler tag".

Micaela: The above method doesn't seem to work within the pbwiki changes emails that are sent to SRP members, the text remains visible and reabable.
